Australian Historical Events is a daily guide to the important events that shaped Australia to what it is today. It is a compilation of significant events for the month of June including the birth and death of famous Australians as well as laws promulgated by authorities. The list is constantly updated to incorporate the most recent events.

8 | 1942 | The Japanese submarine I-21 briefly shelled Newcastle City in New South Wales during the onset of World War II. |
8 | 2007 | The Hunter and Central Coast regions were battered by the worst series of storms to hit New South Wales in 30 years resulting in extensive flooding and nine deaths. |
10 | 1838 | In the Myall Creek massacre, at least twenty-eight unarmed Indigenous Australians were killed by twelve colonists at the Myall Creek near the Gwydir River, in northern New South Wales. |

14 | 1893 | Patrick Hannan discovered gold which set off a major gold rush in Kalgoorlie-Boulder in Western Australia. The area became known as The Golden Mile, the richest square mile in the world. |
21 | 2021 | The International Olympic Committee selected and announced at its session in Lausanne, Switzerland that Brisbane in Queensland, Australia won the winning bid for 2032 Summer Games. |

28 | 2007 | The Sydney Opera House became a UNESCO World Heritage Site. |
27 | 1911 | The Royal Military College, Duntroon, also known simply as Duntroon, was founded as the Australian Army’s officer training establishment. |
29 | 1859 | James Quinn was installed as the first bishop of the Diocese of Brisbane in the state of Queensland. |
