Economy, Business and Investment in Ormoc

Ormoc is the second largest city of Leyte in terms of population. As such, it is the home of big shopping centers, banks and other financial houses, educational institutions and a geothermal plant operated by Energy Development Corporation. A huge solar power plant is being built that could make the city a center for renewable energy.

Although Ormoc is being urbanized, agriculture still plays a big role in the city. It hosts pineapple and sugarcane plantations but rice, coconut vegetables, and fish are also produced in large quantities.

Tourism is being developed as an alternative source of income with hotels, resorts, and restaurants rising up in many parts of the city.

Ormoc has its own airport and seaport.
