History of Limay

The municipality of Limay was created on October 4, 1917. Previously, it was a barrio of Orion.

On March 7, 1967, President Ferdinand Marcos issued a proclamation to set aside 263 hectares for military reservation to serve as the Government Arsenal (GA).

Economy of Limay

Limay is an industrial town. It is the home of the country’s largest petroleum refining and petrochemical plant. Three electric power plants are located in the country. Other products manufactured in the town are military and police armaments, furniture, and food products.

Agricultural products include rice, fish, vegetables, poultry and hogs.
