History of Anahawan

Anahawan was formerly a barrio of Hinundayan. On January 1, 1931, it was separated as a municipality named Delgado in honor of Congressman Jorge Delgado. Subsequently, it was renamed Anahawan.

In 1939, the town registered a total of 5,086 residents and in 1970, it increased to 6,094. The total population in 2000 was 7,209 which jumped to 8,211 in 2015.
