History of Anahawan

Anahawan was formerly a barrio of Hinundayan. On January 1, 1931, it was separated as a municipality named Delgado in honor of Congressman Jorge Delgado. Subsequently, it was renamed Anahawan.

In 1939, the town registered a total of 5,086 residents and in 1970, it increased to 6,094. The total population in 2000 was 7,209 which jumped to 8,211 in 2015.

Anahawan is primarily an agricultural town where rice, corn, fish, and coconut are the chief products.
