Pantaleon Alvarez Biography

Pantaleon Alvarez is a Filipino politician. He is the current congressman of the first legislative district of Davao del Norte Province. Running under the ruling PDP-Laban Party in the May 13, 2019 election, he won over Antonio Rafael Del Rosario of the regional Hugpong ng Pagbabago Party and independent candidate Ronelo Rafales.

In 2020, Congressman Alvarez resigned from the PDP-Laban and moved to the revived Partido para sa Demokratikong Reporma (PDR), the party organized as a vehicle for the presidential campaign of former Secretary and AFP Chief of Staff Renato De Villa in 1998. Subsequently, he was made president of that party.

On August 1, 2021, Mr. Alvarez announced that he has given up on President Rodrigo Duterte and that he is looking for a real leader to succeed the president in 2022.
