Roel Degamo Biography

Roel Degamo was a Filipino engineer and politician. He served as governor of Negros Oriental Province in Central Visayas Region. Running as a reelectionist under the Nacionalista Party (NP) in the May 13, 2019 election, he easily defeated incumbent Provincial Board Member Jessica Jane Villanueva who ran as an independent.

In the 2022 election, Roel Degamo initially lost his reelection bid to Bayawan Mayor Pryde Henry Teves but after a recount, he was proclaimed as the real winner with a margin of more than 30,000 votes.

On March 4, 2023, Governor Degamo was shot dead just outside their family’s residential compound in Barangay 9, in Pamplona town. He was pronounced dead at around 11:41 am, according to reports.
