Freddie Aguilar is a famous Filipino singer, a prolific songwriter and politician. If only for his song Anak (Child) which had been translated into 26 languages and released in 59 countries, he could be the next national artist. ((Jump to song list.)

Aguilar was born on February 5, 1953 in Santo Tomas, Isabela, Philippines. At 14, he wrote his first song and at age 17, he started playing the guitar. His first performance on stage occured when he was 20 years old.

Freddie studied electrical engineering but did not pursue it because music took over as his priority. He married Josephine Queipo and had 4 children with her. They are Maegan, Jonan, Isabella, and Jeriko. In 2000, he married Antonette Martinez and in 2013, he converted to Islam and married another woman in Buluan, Maguindanao Province.

On October 11, 2018, Freddie filed his candidacy for senator and got the endorsement of President Rodrigo Duterte.
