Samphran Elephant Ground and Zoo

Want to see elephant shows or try feeding them yourself?

Samphran Elephant Ground and Zoo

Come to the Samphran Elephant Ground and Zoo. It is a famous tourist attraction located in Nakhon Pathom Province, a little less than one hour from Khaosan Road in the old part of Bangkok.

The place features a zoo with maybe 5 or 7 animals, a crocodile show, a restaurant and of course public entertainment using elephants. If you are lucky, you will also be tantalized with two or three magic demonstrations. The highlight of elephant show is a royal battle in Thai history with actors riding on the elephants.

And please do not forget to feed the large animals with bananas or whatever elephant food the peddler is suggesting. Needless to say, it’s additional business for them but definitely it’s an exciting experience especially if you go there with children in tow.

Depending on the agency, there should also be a visit to an orchid nursery and to the breeding site of crocodiles and elephants.

Samphran Elephant Ground and Zoo was established by Mr. Pichai Chaimongkoltrakul and it was officially opened to the public on March 24, 1985.
