Chachoengsao Province is one of the provinces in the eastern region of Thailand. Its neighboring provinces are Nakhon Nayok and Prachin Buri in the north, Sa Kaeo and Chanthaburi in the east, Chonburi in the south, and Samut Prakan and Bangkok in the west. (See map below.)

Formerly known as Paet Riu, Chachoengsao was originally recognized as a territory of Siam during the reign of King Borommatrailokkanat in the Ayutthaya period. It was elevated to provincial status in 1916. 

The province has a total land area of 5,351 km2 and an estimated population of more than 709,000 in 2015. Topography is mostly lowland, drained by the Bang Pa Kong River. Hills and rolling terrain are found in the eastern part of the province. Farming and manufacturing are the major source of livelihood of its people. The province is a major rice and fish producer. Several industrial estates are located in the province.
