The Grand Palace

The official residence of Thailand‘s Royal Family is the Grand Palace. It is located in the old part of Bangkok called Rattanakosin Island, a historical area in the Phra Nakhon district on the bank of the Chao Phraya River.

The Grand Palace was built by King Rama I in 1784. It sits just beside Wat Phra Kaeo and together formed a complex that house a stunning display of arts and distinctive Thai architecture.

The complex also includes a garden named Siwalai, a museum inside Wat phra Kaeo, and the different halls and pavilions.

Since it a a walking distance from Wat Pho, most tourist come here right after visiting Wat Pho or the other way around.
